HEALTH BENEFITS OF CORN OIL: |
- Corn oil is a rich source of good fats and a powerful antioxidant that can keeps you healthy.
- Corn oil is an effective component in lowering blood cholesterol levels. It contains about 60 percent polyunsaturated, 25 to 30 percent monounsaturated, and 10 to 15 percent saturated fats. The high levels of polyunsaturated fats in corn oil, as compared to monounsaturated and saturated fats, help lower blood cholesterol levels. The high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids also aid in lowering elevated blood pressure.
- Corn oil contains a natural mixture of free phytosterol, phytosterol esters, and phytostanol esters. Research has shown that phytosterols play an important role in reducing blood cholesterol by inhibiting its absorption from the intestines. It is also a rich source of Linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is essential for growth and good skin and hair quality.
- Corn oil is also a rich source of tocopherols. Tocopherols function as antioxidants and provide a good amount of Vitamin E. Besides the health benefits of tocopherols, it maintains quality of the oil preventing it from going rancid.
